Best friends Hannah Binyon and Storm Wilson have a lot to be thankful not least their solid friendship born out of devastating illness.

The ten-year-olds have battled back from frightening sickness which threatened both of their young lives. As a result, the classmates have formed such a close bond they help each other through day to day life. And to show the world their fighting spirit, young Storm has had 2ft 6ins of her long locks chopped off – her first ever hair cut - to support the charity which helped her best friend.

Hannah’s mum Gemma, from Rayleigh, Essex, said: “What Storm has done for their friendship is a huge deal. We’re totally overwhelmed that she would do that. Storm just kept saying ‘wow’ when she heard what her friend was doing for her. What a lovely thing to do.

“Hannah wore a wig occasionally when she lost her hair through chemo and Storm knows that. What an amazing little girl.”

Back in 2010, a five-year-old Hannah was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer found in the nerve cells. By the time her mystery illness was diagnosed, she had to be placed into a coma to give medics at Great Ormond Street Hospital time to act. Her parents were told there was a 10% chance of her beating it.

Gemma said: “She had been poorly for six months, crying every night saying her legs hurt. She lost lots of weight and, to me, she looked like she was dying, but the doctors couldn’t work out what was wrong. She stopped eating, stopped playing and stopped being happy. That Christmas, she didn’t even want to open her presents. When she collapsed at school, we rushed her to A&E and insisted on answers. Within an hour of being taken to GOSH, she had been diagnosed.

“By then, she was almost paralysed as she was riddled with cancer.”

After a year of treatment, Hannah has been left with a dormant tumour on her spine and nerve damage to her feet giving her mobility problems.

Best friends Hannah Binyon and Storm Wilson have a lot to be thankful not least their solid friendship born out of devastating illness.
The ten-year-olds have battled back from frightening sickness which threatened both of their young lives. And to show the world their fighting spirit, young Storm has had 2ft 6ins of her long locks chopped off – her first ever hair cut - to support the charity which helped her best friend.

MSPCA-Angell Surgeons and Adoption Center Staff Team up to Give “Nelson” a Second Chance

BOSTON, Dec. 11, 2015 – An adorable nine-week-old puppy who was bought online and shipped from Missouri to Massachusetts by truck arrived in the state so ill he required emergency veterinary intervention at the MSPCA-Angell, the organization announced today. Now the pup—named “Nelson”—is on the mend and will be placed for adoption after he recovers.

The Shar Pei-Pug was brought by his former owner to the MSPCA’s Angell Animal Medical Center on Monday, Dec. 7 suffering from lethargy, vomiting and diarrhea. Nelson had been in Massachusetts for only a week, having endured the 20-hour trip from Missouri in a small cage to reach the state.

Emergency Surgery
As it turned out Nelson’s intestines were entangled and Angell surgeons had to remove a large portion, re-positon and re-insert them into his tiny abdomen.

Alyssa Krieger, manager of the MSPCA’s animal care and adoption center, settled the puppy into the shelter after the owner surrendered him. “Thankfully Nelson arrived in our care just in time as he would have died without emergency surgery, which would have been doubly tragic given everything he’d already endured.

Nelson will be placed in foster care for two weeks, to continue recovering from surgery before he can be placed into a new home.

Puppy Buyers Beware
Nelson’s plight focuses a spotlight on the dangers of “online only” pet sales, in which buyers are not able to visit the breeder to inspect conditions or meet dogs before purchasing. “This was a classic puppy mill situation and it’s not surprising to us that Nelson was so sick—he was likely critically ill before he was even transported to Massachusetts,” said Krieger.
“We encourage everyone to please adopt vs. buying a new pet—but at the very least buyers should be able to inspect a breeder’s pr

And that’s exactly what she did, Along with her son Tim and her daughter-in-law Ramie, Norma set off on an epic road trip across the United States, With no guarantee that she’d survive the surgery and chemotherapy necessary to treat her cancer, she decided to enjoy the time she had left by doing the things she’s always wanted to do,They’ve traveled across several states and have visited many places on their amazing journey,They’ve been to many places including Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park and the Rocky Mountains…
• 90-Year-Old With Cancer Chooses Epic Road Trip With Family Instead Of Treatment

Believe it or not however, the 90-year-old woman who went on a road trip with her family instead of choosing cancer treatment is the remarkable true story of Norma, a Michigan woman who said no to chemotherapy and yes to living her dream.
Norma was diagnosed with uterine cancer soon after Leo, her husband of 67 years, passed away in July of 2015. When her doctor informed her about her possibilities for treatment, Norma refused the options available and instead decided to do the unexpected.
“I’m 90-years-old, I’m hitting the road”, she said. And that’s exactly what she did, and she’s been on the road ever since. Along with her son and his wife, the three have traveled all over the United States and they don’t look like they’re stopping any time soon. You can follow their inspiring journey on her Facebook page, Driving Miss Norma.
Kate's tears for a grieving mum: Pregnant Duchess throws her arms around mother after hearing of her baby's

The Duchess of Cambridge was moved to tears yesterday as she listened to a mother recall the heartbreak of losing her three-month-old daughter.
After Leigh Smith had finished her speech at the charity event, Kate reacted as any mother would – by throwing her arms around her to comfort her.
Mrs Smith, 33, whose daughter Beatrice died of a heart condition earlier this year, said: ‘Kate sought me out and gave me a hug just before she left.

The duchess, who is 18 weeks pregnant with her second child, was attending the launch of a fundraising campaign to help EACH build a £10million facility in Norfolk.
Dressed in a scarlet Katherine Hooker dress, and with her hair tied in a pony tail, she appeared to be in good health and to have beaten the severe morning sickness that plagued the early weeks of her pregnancy.
But she struggled to keep her emotions in check as she listened intently to Mrs Smith’s tragic story, which detailed the assistance that the charity gave her fa
